TravelPerk Cover Letter

Cover Letter

Hi TravelPerk team peeps, I’m Nick, a Creative Director passionate about travel with extensive agency and brand-side leadership experience.

I think I’d be a great fit for TravelPerk because…

• Agency and brand-side leadership roles working with disruptive technology brands. I built and sold Shoreditch creative agency Albion, so I understand balancing creativity with the commercial imperative.

• Experience in e-commerce building creative in-house teams in fast moving companies 20% MoM growth at Zapp and Farmdrop after Series A funding.

• Keen interest in utilising emerging technologies and tools. A natural collaborator between stakeholders, teams and external partners/agencies.

Some thoughts on the TravelPerk brand…

Strengths:

  • A strong sense of team commitment and culture. Well demonstrated on the blog, social media and Glassdoor etc.

  • The TravelPerk blue is a strong anchor for consistency. The logo has an echo of Expedia which is no bad thing.

  • Some nicely designed resources and lead gen e-books eg “The ultimate guide to travel management”.

  • The video explainers “For Travelers” and “For finance teams” etc are great! They should be on Youtube to help search.

  • Strong UI booking experience for users which feels as seamless as a consumer brand.

Opportunities:

  • A more consistent, simpler and distinctive brand. The secondary colour palette and photography feels generic at times. The brand could be more distinctive with a tidy up which brings in more unique brand elements as demonstrated in the e-book series eg “The ultimate guide to travel management”.

  • More engaging social media. The Tik Tok and Instagram could have better hooks that go beyond documenting the culture and into the universal truths of business travel.

  • Up the engagement on the main website pages.

Here is a sample of my work…

Air New Zealand

I creative directed Air New Zealand for five years at my agency. We marketed their long haul experience on routes via LA and HKG to people in the UK and Germany who wouldn’t have considered them otherwise.

Farmdrop

I’m really proud of the work I did at Farmdrop. It was a business with a big (ethical) heart. I developed the brand, content strategy and tone of voice.

How I think about driving efficiency and effectiveness in content production.

  • Serialise popular content formats to gain trust and understanding.

  • Repackage popular executions across channels using video and stills.

  • Email is the marketing engine - so make sure compelling content can be merchandised in email.

This just a sample of a couple of bits of work. You can see more via my home page and my love for travel on my IG Stories (I’m no influencer but do enjoy telling the stories of my travels). I’d love the opportunity to meet and chat more about the role.

Cheers
Nick
